Meet our Founder

Founded in 2016, DBA was established to bring institutional-grade project management to private residential projects. The firm is built on the principle that owner representation begins with a deep understanding of the client, which guides priorities, risk management, and decision-making at every stage. A third-generation master builder, De Burgh apprenticed in all the major trades by the age of 19, before receiving a masters in Philosophy and Classical Languages from Bard College.  For the past two decades, he has specialized in complex, high-stakes projects defined by financial exposure and compressed timelines. His portfolio spans ultra-high-net-worth families, institutional clients including Goldman Sachs, and government agencies including the US Department of Defense and the UN Development Programme.

The practice is distinguished by a systems-driven approach to project management—translating complexity into intuitive visual tools and intelligent documentation. Technology and offshore capabilities are integrated to enhance efficiency, increase standards, and lower costs without sacrificing oversight.

Kyle is a critical thinker who investigates all options before recommending a course of action. He leads with emotional intelligence, guiding teams through the inherent demands of complex construction with precision and calm.  In his personal time, he attends Vedantic teachings and Buddhist retreats, and pursues winter mountaineering in the Alps and Himalayas.

history of The De Burghs

Originating from the Viking settlers of Normandy, the De Burghs became known as the first masters of horse mounted warfare in the 9th century.  Using special breeds of horses obtained from the Arabs, they spread throughout Western and Northern Europe. They served as either special forces or bodyguards for royalty, trading protection for land.

They launched their own royal lineage when the most famous bearer of the name in history, William De Burgh, Duke of Normandy, conquered England in 1066.  The last time England was successfully invaded, he and 12,000 knights defeated King Harold’s army in the Battle of Hastings, earning the title William the Conqueror.

William went on to crown himself King, and eventually conquered the rest of Great Britain and Ireland over the next few decades.  Royal families throughout the UK, France, the Low Countries, Germany and Scandinavia hail from further De Burgh conquests over the centuries.  The De Burghs were active in the Crusades, founding the Knights Templar, and reclaiming lands from the Moors throughout the Iberian Peninsula and present day Italy.  The family motto originated in 1190 during the Third Crusade, at the height of the Siege of Acre, as they were fighting alongside Richard the Lionhearted.

The De Burghs learned much from the Arabs regarding castle and fortress construction, applying their knowledge throughout their lands in Europe, most notably at Château-Gaillard in Normandy, built in conjunction with Richard.  As the feudal age of Europe ended in the 1500s, the De Burghs moved into governance, finance, and military roles.
